The DCCS Musical Theatre program gives children aged 9 through 15 the chance to be a part of a live musical theatre production. Students learn acting techniques, stage movement and presence, choreography and vocal skills, as well as the staging of songs and theatrical scenes. Program activities include every aspect of a theatrical production from basic skills and auditions, to rehearsals and dress rehearsals which will culminate in three public performances. In this program, we focus on developing each performer’s confidence and stage presence through positive reinforcement and encouragement. As a successful show depends on each and every actor and enrollment space is limited, a high commitment level is required of every participant in the program. Students with lead roles will often have additional practices on Thursdays to complete scenes work. For more information, call (250) 219-4640.
