As arts organizations everywhere learn to operate in a post-pandemic world, DCCS is dependent on each and every supporter. Every dollar that’s raised at our performances and fundraisers directly supports program development and continuation. With all of our major events on hold, we need support now more than ever. Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to the day we can gather to sing together and perform onstage again.
If there is a specific program or event that you would like your funds to directly support, please indicate so as a memo or note with your donation. Any unspecified donations will go toward current operational expenses. Other designations could include:
Our internal DCCS Bursary Fund is a restricted amount of money that’s earmarked for any members who might be struggling with fees, and not able to access other supports such as the DC Arts & Wellness Fund. The Bursary Fund is only as large as the donations that are in it, and we look to boost the amount whenever possible.
Kindermusik is an internationally-licensed program with accredited instruction and curriculum. It’s a weekly music and movement program that is built for infants through preschoolers, aged 0 to 5. Kindermusik sets children up for lifelong literacy and numeracy, all while building their sense of joy through community.
DCCS’s first program stream, our choirs have been singing together since 2014. We have nearly 80 singers ranging in age from 5 to 85 years, who perform several times throughout the year in concerts and other community events. Choir is all about working together toward a common goal through finding and sharing our voices.
Our youth musical theatre program is a highly competitive and intensive program, each year producing at least one large-scale musical production onstage. Performers learn to take risks, show their unique personalities, and practice hard as they sing, dance, and act their way to becoming strong leaders.
For all the activities we do and partnerships we cultivate year-round, the Community stream is all about how DCCS engages with our society. Part of our mission is to “create harmony in the world around us.” We engage in topics such as anti-racism, LGBTQ2S+, mental health, and community charitable giving.
