Performance Intensive Camp – Aug 20-24

Introducing a brand new conditioning camp happening August 20th to 24th. This camp is designed to set students up for success in their performance ventures. Activities include group vocal lessons from experienced voice teacher Caitlyn Triebel, development of acting skills, improvisation techniques for the stage, character development, choreography, practice skills, and confidence in auditioning. This camp is great for both beginners and experienced performers. Each student will have the opportunity to work on one to two solo numbers, as well as duets and larger musical theatre ensemble pieces.

This camp will be excellent preparation for success in our regular season Musical Theatre, Bravura Children’s Choir, and Youth Show Choir programs, or private voice training.

Performance Intensive I – Ages 7 to 11 – 10AM to 1PM – $125

Performance  Intensive II – Ages 12 to 15 – 2PM to 5PM – $155

The camp takes please at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre, upstairs on the second level. Students should bring a snack as there will be breaks throughout the three hours of class-time.

DCCS Newsletter – January 2018

Wow – It’s amazing how quickly 2017 flew by for us here at DCCS! We’re now half-way through our regular season, with a whole lot of exciting things up and coming in 2018. Starting January 8th, we are adding Kindermusik to our many ongoing programs. We’re starting a new term for all choir programs, with all new music and new goals for each choir group. And it’s amping up time for the Musical Theatre program, as rehearsals intensify and costumes, sets, and props start to come to fruition as we prepare for our March 7-9 production. We’re in the works for several other spring and summer initiatives as well.

Check out our January Newsletter for more information and an update on what we’ve been doing over the past year and beyond. Thank you for supporting DCCS whether you are a present or past member, an audience patron, a sponsor – everyone has contributed to the growth of this organization, for which we are immensely grateful!

Find information on the “Healthy Singing for Choristers” workshop here
This is a great opportunity for anyone to brush up on important skills such as using your vocal apparatus to its greatest potential and balancing and blending your sound with the rest of your choir. It’s also a chance to meet other choral singers from Northern BC and to be immersed in the idea of healthy, thoughtful singing. Taught by Kathryn Whitney, a well established choral pedagogue and clinician. If there is enough interest, we may arrange carpooling from Dawson Creek for this day. Let us know!
